Occasion - Inauguration of Online Training for the Judicial Officers at JTRI, Lucknow held on 22 June 2020
Background :-
The Judicial Training & Research Institute, U.P., Lucknow established in the year 1986 is the premier judicial training institute mandated to provide training to judicial officers, law officers, public prosecutors and other officers on various legal subjects. The Institute primarily provides induction and in-service training to the judicial officers of the State of Uttar Pradesh. As per the calendar prepared by the JTRI, various training activities were proposed to be organized but on account of the emergent situation and steps taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, the residential training programmes have been deferred.
Taking note of the fact that around 450 officers of the Civil Judges (J.D.) cadre and around 50 Additional District Judges of the Direct Higher Judicial Service cadre have been appointed recently, who have not undergone the compulsory induction training in compliance of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the All India Judges’ Association and others Vs. Union of India and others, (2002) 4 SCC 247, permission was granted by Hon’ble the Chief Justice, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad as recommended by the Hon’ble Supervisory Committee, JTRI to conduct the induction training using the online/distance learning platform.
The induction training would be spread over a duration of 45 days from 22 June, 2020 to 05 August, 2020. The training programme was formally inaugurated online on 22 June, 2020. As the head of the institution of judiciary in the State of Uttar Pradesh and as the patron-in-chief of the JTRI, Hon’ble the Chief Justice was pleased to record a message for the young trainee officers. The message outlining the role of judicial officers, the expected and non-negotiable qualities & virtues of judges and the objectives of the training was disseminated to all the trainee officers through the dedicated online link developed for conducting the online induction training.
