FULL COURT CONDOLENCE MEETING IN CHIEF JUSTICE’S COURT ON 23.12.2005 AT 3.30 P.M TO MOURN THE SAD DEMISE OF JUSTICE SHREE RANG MISRA, A RETIRED JUDGE OF THIS COURT.

We have assembled here this afternoon to mourn the sad demise of Justice Shree Rang Misra, a retired Judge of this Court.

Justice Misra was born on 1.5.1935. He obtained his law degree from Allahabad University. After obtaining Law Degree he was enrolled as an Advocate on 3.8.1959 and joined the chamber of Shri R.B. Misra, Advocate who later on became the Judge of this Court and also of the Supreme Court. Justice Shree Rang Misra practiced mainly on the civil side and had a flourishing practice. He was appointed as permanent Judge of this Court on 1.2.1992. On 28.4.1994 he was transferred to Calcutta High Court from where he retired on 30.4.1997.

After retirement Justice Misra was appointed as Chairman of Dealer Selection Board by the Petroleum Ministry for grant of dealership in U.P. He was also appointed as Chairman of the Enquiry Commission to probe the violence in Aligarh Muslim University. He was also appointed as Chairman of the Enquiry Commission by the State Government to examine aspects relating to transparency in Taj Expressway Project. He was member of Executive Council of Sampoornanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya.

Two sons of Justice Misra are in legal profession. His elder son, Sri Ajay Kumar Misra, is practicing in Supreme Court while the younger, Sri Ashwani Kumar Misra, is practicing in this Court.

Justice Misra suffered physical discomfort in November and was operated for open-heart surgery at Max Hospital, New Delhi but died in the night of 18.12.2005 leaving behind his wife Smt. Uma Misra and his two sons and their families.

We express our heart-felt condolence to the members of the bereaved family.

We pray to God that He may grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
